Can you say the word "belonging" in creative writing? (1 Viewer)

This may seem obvious to some but I'm not sure. For example, the protagonist is at a metal concert or something, but they're more of a conservative person. They think to themselves "This is not where I belong."
Is this alright or would it be better to say something like "I feel so misplaced"

I think generally it's better to avoid explicitly using the word 'belonging' - or better still, show it, rather than directly stating it.

nah, it'd be better to not say 'belonging' or it's variations.

Also it's better to describe how he came to the conclusion of him not belonging, rather than explicitly stating that your character doesn't (which ever synonym of belonging you use)

^^ Yeah, actually using the word 'belong' or 'belonging' just seems a bit forced.
