First # capture / n (letter variable) = Tagged / # captured.

Then solve as an equation =)

Would it be like this then. Say I caught 12 fish then tagged them. Then caught 100 fish and 4 were tagged

12/4 = 3
3 x 100 = 300 (Number of fish)

EXAMPLE:

A fisheries inspector catches a sample of 80 fish from a lake, tags them and releases them back into the lake, One month later, another sample of 60 fish is caught, and it is found that 5 have tages.

WORKING OUT:

Fraction of tagged fish in sample: 5/60
Fraction of tagged fish in lake: 80/T

THEREFORE; 80/T = 5/60 --> t/80 = 60/5
we work this out as an equation....ie. 80/5 = 16. so 60 x 16 = answer.

16 x 60 = 960.

okay, so looking back on that it looks pretty confusing, so sorry if that makes no sense to you whatsoever. :]
