Hi, as the title suggests; what is the best elective to choose for mechanical engineering? I currently have MATS1101 (Engineering Materials and Chem) as the chosen elective but it seems to take up most of my timetable (compared to other courses such as civil). Is there recommendations for shorter electives or will I just have to suck it up?

Thanks,

You aren't required to do the "recommended electives" as they are not compulsory, but you must do 2. I did SOLA1070 for one of my electives (mainly because it fitted well into my timetable).

There's a whole list to choose from: http://www.eng.unsw.edu.au/information-for/current-students/undergraduates/1st-years/electives You can choose from any School, go for some Civil electives (or w/e) if you think they would be interesting.

Maybe you should do the compulsory computing course in first semester, if you reckon an elective which is only offered in second semester would be better.
