Hi guys,

does anyone knw if inspiron 1520 have a built in modem or not?I'm trying to get a mobile broadband for my laptop and it says if you have ur own modem u can pay less ("Type of Modem: It can be a USB modem, wireless data card or inbuilt modem".),I dunno if i have a modem or not!lol well I can connect to the wireless net at Uni,does this mean I have a modem?

Your computer has a wireless card (it can join a local network, where the internet signal has already been translated for the computer)

However, a wireless modem is different - it is a device which translates 3G/HSDPA signals from the mobile phone network for the computer

The second type has a sim card in it
