hey everyone...hope your pips are coming together

i was just wondering if quotes from secondary sources count as part of your 5000 word limit? My teacher thinks they do, but i'm a bit sceptical...there not your own words, so why should they count?

so what's everyone doing? Counting quotes or not...

I'm going to say yes, considering in every other scenario (eg english essays, Uni essays etc), they do.

Simply: yes, they do count as part of the word limit. You're utilising these quotations to support your own findings, so it becomes part of "your work", but you must cite it.

i don't think our school's ever counted quotes in our word limits. english essays, modern essays, my extension history major work...the universal practice has been not to count quotes in the word limit because its not your own work...i think it prob depends on the task...
