I've received an essay and I'm not quite sure what to add in the essay. The question is;

"plus ca change, plus ca la meme chose - the more things change, the more they stay the same"

write a transcript of your speech, making Emma/Clueless transformation your main feature.

Any tips would be great.

Well, the village of Highbury doesn't change much through the book.

And Emma and Cher are very similar.

You'll get types like them through the 150 years of literature and life.

Probably expectations of the upper-middle-class/landed gentry and young girls getting married or having dates.

Neither Emma nor Cher are expected to work; they are ladies of leisure.

They both find older men who help them in their lives, like Josh for Cher and Mr Knightley for Emma.

You could show what sort of person Emma was and show how her behaviour and attitudes changed as she experienced more of life, and the same occurs to Cher, if I'm not misreading your question horribly.

If you want to do a speech it would be more effective if you used features of rhetoric.
