hmm. just an interesting thing i found out in my school.

i found out that my english half yearly doesn't have any weighting.
because the rest of my assessments for english (which is shown in a booklet we got from our year advisor) showed that the assessments we have (not including half yearly) adds up to 100%

so yeah. since english half yearly has 0% weighting, would it effect my ranking if i go bad in it? I'm not gonna 'flunk it out' .. im gonna study for english but just not as hard. i'll be studying my ass off if it DOES go towards my ranking.

Ours is also 0% weighing, teacher said we've got enough english assessments spread out through the year, although we'll be having an oral for transformations (which is weighted) around the exam period, plus some journeys essay (not weighted) to refresh our memory.

That's kind of stupid of the teachers. When formulating the assesment calender, they should have made the half-yearly one of the assesments.

I suggest you put in the absolute minimum effort, firstly to give yourself time to concentrate on your other weighted exams, and secondly to give your teachers a clear idea of the sort of effort people put in when a a task has no effect.

But, yeah. Just make sure that it is really 0%, just in case.

They count towards your school report.:p
HSC takes priority, universities and companies are more interested in your UAI and marks than your school report. On the positive side though, the 0% assessment is good revision for you. :)

0%? Hmm I don't have any assessment like that!
However, that might just be because I don't have an English half yearly =P

does anyone know the effect of assessments on the uai?

as for my half yearlys, not sure about the weighting for english but there is on

as for extension history, i don't think the half yearly has a weighting, the major work is 40/50 and the trials are 10/50 or was it the hsc exam that was 10/50...not too sure...im looking at this extension half yrly as a good practise as to what to write...
