Could someone on the TMP Division answer this please?
In regards to uni... i've noticed that the core courses between unis vary. I've been looking at UTS and UNSW and i'm still not sure which would be the better university to attend as a cadet. Any ideas on the relevance of the core courses in relation to being an accountant in the TMP division? The core courses are as follows:
UNSW:
Accounting & Financial Mgt 1A
Accounting & Financial Mgt 1B
Microeconomics 1
Macroeconomics 1
Quantitative Methods A
Quantitative Methods B

UTS:
Accounting for Business
Business Law and Ethics
Managing People and Organisations
Marketing Foundations
Economics for Business
Fundamentals of Business Finance
Business Statistics
and either
Accounting Transactions and Business Decisions
or
Business Strategy

Thanks in advances

From my understanding:

UNSW/UTS

Accounting & Financial Mgt 1A = Accounting for Business
Accounting & Financial Mgt 1B = Accounting Transactions and Business Decisions
Microeconomics 1 & Macroeconomics 1 = Economics for Business (combined for those who just need the basic micro/macro economics knowledge...in-depth macro knowledge is in the Finance/Economics major)
Quantitative Methods A = Fundamentals of Business Finance (for the financial maths stuff. UNSW probably has another subject for the finance theory)
Quantitative Methods B = Business Statistics

UNSW has less core subjects but you learn more economics than you need to if you don't really like that area. UTS has more core subjects, such as Management, Marketing and Business Law as shown above. These subjects can be done in the BComm but isn't not compulsory like the BBus. You need to do most of the UTS core subjects in the BComm anyways to be eligible for the CA/CPA programs (especially Business Law and Management).

The accounting core subjects are the pretty much the same at all uni's and will be the most relevant to you in the TMP division, though the Accounting major subjects will be the ones that will be more relevant eventually.

we all go to UTS, Macq and UNSW
I go UNSW
We're all handling the cadetship fine
Beside the basic accounting stuff, the degree at this stage doesnt specify enough to help us with our day-to-days
so you'll be fine anywhere!

I think as long as you understand the basics (ie. Debits and Credits) and how everything links together... from an audit perspective at least, you should be fine. Whatever else you need is filled in with on the job training :)
