Are you sure its form 1918-1945? I think you would only be looking at 1933-1945, because before the Nazis took power there wasnt any repression or terror (perhaps there was just after teh depression and in the early 30s, but it wasnt significant or of an organised form)...

The Nazis used a system of indoctrination to convince people that what they were doing was right (talk about Hitler Youth, propaganda, also banning of the Protestat churches and replacing them with and evangelical Reich church, League for German Maidens, use of scape goats for economic problems, etc.). Tey used systematic terror against opposition, adn you could talk of things like the kristallnacht and how the Jews had very few rights (just abot no rights by 1939), banning of various groups like trade unions, all opposition parties, youth organisatoins etc. You could also talk about repression as in harsh cencorship, for example judges and people of the civil service who disobeyed the Nazis were simply fired from their jobs, no freeedom of speech or information (jazz music was banned), etc. Lastly you would probably go on to say that it wasnt totally succesful because there was still opposition groups that remaines such as teh Edelweiss Pirates and a few others which I cant remember at the moment.
Hope this helps

...and, if it is 1918 - 1945 the only thing i can think of would possibly be the political fights in the streets but that was really only the late 20's, early 30's. Straight after 1918, and before Germany surrendered in the first world war Germany was also kind of militaristic, like everyone was being repressed by the military but it didn't end up mattering coz everything just fell apart.

(this is apart from all the stuff from 1933 onwards i've just not bothered with that for you coz the lovely person above did!)

Before the period that the Nazis took over there was repression and terror, but obviously to a much more minor extent.

there was the Kapp Putsch i n 1920 for example, where Wolfgang Kapp led a march in the streets, i think it was in Berlin in revolt against the government.
There was general political repression, (the spartacists and the socialists were always fighting) particularly demonstrated in the use of the brutal Freecorps (ex soldiers) by Ebert to control political opposition.

There was a lot of anger towards the government in general, displayed in violent revolts like the Kapp Putsch. the Kaiser abdicated, and that made pepole angry.

in addition, the signing of the armistice in 1918 made people furious - Ebert and his government were called the 'novemeber criminals'

The political rivalry and instability at this time made it in general a time of fear and repression.

Let me know if you have any more questions
