Has anyone got any/know where to get any exercises on this which are very elementary [that is, none of that prove the series diverges stuff]?

i found it. it's in this:

http://www.maths.mq.edu.au/~wchen/lnfymfolder/fym17-s.pdf

(i.e., in chapter 17, series, from the link in withoutaface's post.)

this is from william chen's website, one of the best from any uni in australia in my opinion.

i have high regard for william chen.
It's all about convergence... looking more for basic physical applications/ questions involving harmonic means...

none.

na jk, AM>=GM>=HM, not that useful really. follows straight from AM>=GM
dunno about any aplications. Harmonic series isnt really anything concrete, gotta be more specific if you wanna find application or exercises. For practice, go practise algebra in general.

I'll give an example:
u go at speed x over distance d and then speed v on the return journey. Find av speed.
harder example:
proof that h(n) is not an integer for n>1...
[contradicts my original q, but interestin stuff like this i always like to read up on]

well what's so special about them apart from the fact that they are just algebra? I mean there isnt any great "knowledge set" for harmonic stuff (like u cant make it really make it into a topic), its just algebra.

I know nothing about the 4u maths component of the Harmonic Series, but if you're interested in that sort of stuff, you might want to read up on the musical application of the Harmonic Series.

pt: i'd take any level :p
a range would be nice but i can make the leaps if they're not too big...
just none of the excessively difficult stuff...

ph: yup, have done... first application mentioned in a particular book...
