Business: 20/44

English Advanced: 36/89

French: 3/5

depends on the school and other variables, but from what you've given, you're on track for around 80

You cant just tell from that. You have to look at the school she goes to.

thats what i said
it depends on the school and other factors, and ive given her an rough indication of what she would get based on those facts
read before you post
and should i say ive given her a far too high approximation
im gonna be realistic and say around 70's

well a bit more accurately
coz from your ranks, you could prob either get in the 60s-70s or even up to 90s, depending on whether your school is a high ranked school based on the previous couple of years
the high school rank determines that the students usually do really well in the externals, thus lifting their cohort's UAI up.
so all i could say to you is......help each other

Kat:

This is how you guesstimate your UAI:

1.) Find out from your Principal/Careers Advisor what percentage of an average year group from your school gets over certain benchmarks. Say, 1/3 over 90, another 1/3 over 80..whatever.

2.) Divide your rank in each subject by the number of candidates in the cohort. This will give you a decimal. Add the decimal from each subject and then divide by the number of subjects to get your mean percentile.

3.) Compare this figure to the data you got from your Careers Advisor. Say if your mean figure was 0.32, and 1/3 of your cohort got over 90 each year, then you could roughly estimate yourself as at about 90.

woah okay thanks for that.

So theoretically the WHOLE grade has to do well in order to achieve a reasonable UAI.

not necessarily,
if you're ranked 1st for all your subjects, then its only up to you as to how well you do in the hsc
but since your ranked in the middle, then you would have to rely on your peers to give you a boost

No. That's not how the UAI works, just a good way of estimating, if you assume you have a fairly normal cohort.
