1000 words is very good still. not many people at all can right 2000 let alone 1400. you must be a very fast writer to do that in 40 mins. i write about 800-1000 and get in the A range. youll be fine as long as you can write fast.

no its large and cursive.. much easier to write like that.

There's no way I'm going to remember all 2000 words, but I think in the trials i roughly wrote about 1600 in 40 minutes. Its not hard.

mine is 1300 , way too long but in the test because i have to adapt the essay to the question i will find myself misisgn out parituclar stuff on purposes and it will surely cut my essay down........
Furthermore if i leave out one related material that cuts my essay down nicely

but still argh, i just did a test and i went over in this section by 5 min , using all related material though

Hmm... I'm considering breaking my arm for the english exam so they let me type it. I (as I'm is the case for most people) can type much faster than I can write.

'Too long' would mean that it takes you more than 40 minutes to write under exam conditions. The average length is about five or six pages per essay depending on your handwriting style and speed - I think some people can write up to ten pages (HSC booklets) but they may be sacrificing time in other areas.

Don't go by word count alone.

better off going by time limits, rather than words.

you've spent a whole year learning these texts, the best you can do is spend equal amounts of time on each... :)

40 words/min, this shit is crazy as hell...

I reckon the only way to do that is to memorise an essay completely.

Well, I tend to write about 4 pages in 40 mins (who knows how many words that is - I have large-ish handwriting, if I know the subject VERY well I can write more (for example I wrote just a just over 7 pages essay for EE2 but the handwriting was VERY fast and I knew my stuff VERY well) but yeah...

quality over quantity guys! :)

It shouldnt matter, but it can't hurt. 1000 words will be 7 ish exam booklet pages anyway.
