i just want an approximate atar estimate with these ranks :/

english standard, rank 48/132. [ really shit i know :( will try to improve! ]
maths 2u, rank 3/53.
biology, rank 5/41.
pd, rank 2/26.
community family studies, 2/18.

thankyou. :]

oh and another question, does pd scale down?
i hear some people said it does =x

i'm aiming for .. 94? wishing to get into bpsych@MQ.
97 and 96 for usyd and unsw respectively, is kinda impossible.

English Std. will adversely affect your ATAR with such a rank.
If you keep this up you'll be sitting on an 80-85 ATAR.

Just keep trying hard and talk to the careers counsellor at your school, they'd be very helpful in determining your choices of getting 90+

yeah i know :S i regret choosing to go standard, biggest regret in life.
but now that its too late.. :(

because one of my friends said that our school generally marks harder and lower than other school. he said that other schools give 80% for schoolmarks and all that and our school gives realy low marks. close to the passing mark. so then he said that we'll scale up like crazy during hsc. cos someone last year had top 20 rank, then he dropped to rank 40 getting 22% in his trials. but he still did alright like 71 in his HSC. and therefore he said that we still get lifted up :S he also said that english wont scale that much down cos its a compulsory subject ? :spzz:
so confusing.

anyway, what rank do you think i havta get around to be able to get 90+ atar?
maybe.. top 10? out of 130. its gnna be really hard :( im also going to apply for the education assessment scheme for financial difficulties so it might boost 4marks above. but can't rely on that, too many people apply.

english standardd , (really shit i dont wanna say) but top 50/130
maths 2u , rank 8/50 something.
biology , rank 6/40 something (estimate)
pd , 2 or 3 out of 30 something.
community family studies , 2 out 20 something.

thankyou. :]

As posted above, English Standard will bring your ATAR down in a very significant way. You need to be within the top 5-10 at least considering the low-ranked nature of your school. As for Maths and Biology, you need to ideally be within the top 3; especially for the 2 Unit which is your best scaling subject.

At the moment, I would say 85 is as high as you can go. 94 is a too much of a stretch right now.

PD scales down if you results are mediocre (<85) and unless you do extremely well (>93), it doesn't scale as high as other subjects. For instance, a 90 in 2 Unit Maths will scale to an ATAR equivalent of approx. 96. A 90 in PD, on the other hand, will scale to an ATAR equivalent of approx. 93.

thanks Gesh for your advice haha :)
if i were to get the marks and ranks you said; like.
rank 3 in bio and maths, and >93for pd, and all the rest of it.
do you think i'd have a chance? ;D
wait, and when you said >93, did you mean internal marks/external?
what so if i get 90 in 2u maths, my atar would jump to 96 o___o"
and did you mean ext/int for 90 - maths?

90+ is within your reach, its the 94+ that's abit of an issue. if you smash the exam, you'll be fine.
