Hi,

I was just doing a chem questions and I have no idea how to find out whether the isotopes are beta emitters or not and whether they are stable.

So, out of the following which are stable and which are beta emitters??

Neon-24 (10), Barium - 138 (56), Calcium - 49 (20), Lead - 212 (82), Iodine - 120 (53), Silicon - 29 (14) and Argon - 35 (18)

NOTE: Number in brackets is simply the atomic number.

ok well i read somewhere that if there are too many neutrons, ie more than protons, it will emit beta radiation. but cos im not sure about that i think we should both sit back and wait for someone with a better answer to come along
