I feel so discouraged after recieving such crappy marks for my english assessments this year. And the reason is that the way my teacher teaches my class is very strange to me. She uses so many words that dont even makes any sense to me.

So apparently, we had to compose an essay and we had to write about the main issues that appear in Othello and 'O'.
I had to ask her what main issues is, and i dont see how main issues is just the themes and values.

I think you have to be borderline retarded to fail prelim english. Invest in a dictionary.

I did Othello in year 11 as well. It wasn't that hard once you find your themes and interpretations. I did post-colonialism and liberal humanism, although I've completely forgotten everything I've learnt about the latter.

As Argo said, don't stress too much for your preliminary english course. It doesn't count towards your HSC, and unlike other subjects, the syllabus of year 12 is almost completely different/irrelevant to that of year 11.

In contrast to all these people, I think you should worry, the preliminary is usually a good indication of what their HSC will be like, so if ur screwing up now in advance, DROP TO STANDARD, OH DEAR GOD JUST DROP NOW!!! I have seen MANY people achieve borderline acceptable in prelim, and almost all of them have drop down about halfway through the year and regret it because they now have to catch up on the easier work. If your not meeting the criteria in the Prelim course, remember that the HSC will be 10x harder.

^^ You sound like our teachers last year telling us to drop or face misery. A few listened but many didnt. We're doing fine this year.

ignore kalyz doll. ull be fine. if you're having problems its a good thing for you to find out now. shop aorund for a good tutor who can fix up your problems. if you wanted to do ext2 and feel like you cant now, dont worry, you still can. schools discourage students who arent in the top of their year group not to do it, but they cant actually stop you. Next year is a fresh start. use it.

well... if you really want to stay in Advance I guess you could, but you have to realise that you will need to put in the hard yards. Praticing essays and writing them in the 40 minutes, getting the teacher to mark them for you and listen to their advice, and of corse research, always research for your essays (helps so much).
