What, the Malibu Barby whose head he screwed off and replaced with a miniature street sign?

mine must be a limited edition, it doesn't have a streetsign head. in fact it resembles a regular barbie.

that could be misconstrued you know.

like: No! right wing! turn!

or: no right wing. turn.

just pointing out how (fragmented) sentences come alive with punctuation.

Indeed, the context (the forbidden word) of the words changes the meaning of the sentence. But the examples you made are very poor, and show little change of meaning. :p

no, it depends on what sort of tone your using. you need a sort of i'm-in-a-panic-and-i'm-about-to-collide-with-a-truck voice for the first one, and you need a deadpan-i'm-a-bloody-boring-monotone-teacher voice for the second. you just don't have the imagination. (is that another forbidden word? is there a list of these somewhere?)

Journey

There are many forbidden words. My use of the definite article is hyperbolic; and expresses the responders lexicographical horror at the Board of Studies poisoning of perfectly decent words.

haha -

The Board of Studies loves its purply post-modern composite words....

like:

"meta-language"
"meta-narrative"
"context"
"deconstruct" (don't use this term at uni. Its meant to be 'analyse'. Not too many ascribe to deconstructionism, hehe)

Oh god it's the colour purple again. We're all doomed.

Context is such a big one though. You could apply it to just about everything.

I just picked them up from reading (Jung uses lots of big words, so do the Cambridge scholars...they also like archaisms - like "extoll"). Whenever I have come across a new word, I have looked it up in the dictionary....its called instant self-enlightenment.
