How does it work?
I know what most of you know, and that is "it has something to do with combining the signals of separated radiotelescopes to create interference patterns which, upon analysis, allows us to synthesise a better resolution" blah blah
Text books which give explanations like that piss me off. They don't answer the question. Can some1 enlighten me?

Ok basically to get a sharp image with one radio telescope it has to be very large due to the large wavelengths involved.

Interferometry works by having multiple telescopes all trying to pick up the signal each of these will be blurry but as the earth orbits they will each change and by looking at the interference change (since it will become more distorted the further it has to travel through the atmosphere) it is possible to reconstruct what the signal should look like.
