You need a credit card if that is what the site accepts. Some do direct debit. Some accept direct deposits.

You don't need a net bank account to shop online if you are using a credit card.

Get internet banking, it allows you do use the other options. Dirrect debit is how I buy things over ebay.

I saw another site that was selling things using b-pay, which you can pay with internet banking. I wasn't going to buy anything till i saw they had that. Damn impulse buying.

Right so this direct debit is only possible via internet banking?
You don't need internet banking to do direct debit. Direct debit means you give the other party your bank details, and you authorise them to take money out of your account - you can do this with your phone bills.

Internet banking just lets you transfer money online (direct deposit) and see your account details, amongst other things.

Direct deposit is different. That's when you get their details and through a means such as interent banking, you deposit the money directly into their account.

I meant direct deposit in my last post.

Then that would be a regular "deposit", not a "direct deposit" :)

The extra effort required in getting up and going out to a bank just doesn't make it worthwhile....

Keycards don't work. I still treat DD as a walk into the branch thing, haven't set up my internet banking. I still do the over-the-counter deposit. Besides, I got major banks(St. Geroge, ANZ, Westpac, Commonwealth) within 200 metres of my door anyways;)

Just with the direct debit cards (Visa, Mastercard);
  1. Is it unsafe to have too much money on them?
  2. When you do EFTPOS at a shop, do you still press SAVINGS and put your PIN in or do you press CREDIT and sign it?
