there are heaps of musical societies on campus. I think if you want 'casual jam sessions' the jazz society is probably your best bet (jazz soc)

there is also....
- SU Symphony Orchestra
- Musical society (choir)
- Musical Theatre
- Eclectic Singing Society
- SU Wind Orchestra

There may be more i have forgotten. Here's a link to all the C&S clubs and societies:USU Online - the University of Sydney Union Website

Other than the ones mentioned above:

There is also...
- The Sydney University Madrigal Society which is a specialist chamber choir (early music, secular new music). They has several informal spin-off small groups that come out of it as it's a very good training ground for chamber and soloist singers.
- Sydney Chamber Opera which is a student run semi-professional Opera company (which has received critical acclaim).
- Beat The System - is a popular music society dedicated to bringing DJs and contemporary electronic artists together in cheap venues
- MADSOC (dance) and SURCAS (circus soc) have historically done some cabaret/burlesque shows but I'm not sure how active they are with those kinds of music/dance collaborative productions.
- There are several informal groups at the Sydney Conservatorium that are not associated with Jazz Soc and which take part in ConVerge every year.

Hope this helps. (I think that's all of them :p)

Yep, that's all of them. You can also check out heaps of the societies at O-Week which is held on the Wed/Thurs/Fri in the week before semester 1 starts each year and they can tell you more. Jazz soc is actually fantastic though. What instrument do you play?
