a. The equilibrium expression Kw = [H+][OH-] is the result of a reaction occuring in pure water, write the equation. ???

b. Explain why [OH-] decreases as [H+] increases.

c.Kw is larger in seawater than in either pure water or very dilute solutions. At 25 degrees Celsius Kw is 10^-13.76. Calculate the molar concentration of H+ in a neutral solution of seawater.

a. H2O(l) + H2O(l) <-> H3O+(aq) + OH-(aq)

b. as [H+] increase (same as saying H3O+ increase), system counteracts this change and tries to minimise it by decreasing [H3O+] by shifting to the left producing more water losing [OH-] in the process (by Henry Louis Le Chatelier's Principle)
