Hey guys coming towards the end of the HSC now, and just wondering how people who do maths at uni and in their career enjoy it. Can anyone suggest good degrees in sydney that use a lot of maths and good jobs to follow besides teaching?

Im doing maths at UNSW. Usyd is also pretty good at maths.

Jobs that use maths include quantative analysis for business, bioinformation and stats, engineering, science, etc etc. Theres heaps of areas you can go into.

It depends what area of maths. Stats would get you the highest paying job straight out of uni in finance companies and such. Pure maths would probably lead you onto further studies beyond undergrad, but you also see a lot of gaming companies wanting pure maths students.

If you want to get a job straight out of uni, i personally think maths is best combined with another degree. You'll notice the above jobs being advertised normally have other requirements to just having a maths degree (most notably programming experience).
