If you get 60's? How could you be ranked high and get 60's?

You'll probably go up like 6-7 marks if you have a high rank. But lyk 90's is imposible.

It depends on the rank and the quality of the people above your rank.

If you are rank 1, then yes it is very possible to obtain a E4.

If your ranked 3rd or 4th, and the people in the ranks above you are not brilliant, then it may be hard to obtain a E4.

In some schools you can be ranked first but still fail the test. Its happened at my school.

How so ?

If your at a school that has only 1 person doing the course, you'll be granted an immediate #1.

This rank means that your external mark will be the same as the internal mark.

So it is definitely possible for you to get a E4 even if you do poorly in a few of your internals.

edit:
He said that provided he did well in his external.

Well if he came rank 1 and "did well" in his external, he would get his external mark for his internal, so ofcourse it is possible provided he does well, as stated in his initial post. Am i wrong here? I think you are.

If you read his post, he said if he would be able to get E4.

It is definitely "possible"

At my school our average for 3unit is 60%.

However 50% of the people doing 3unit get E4.

No honey. You're getting it all mixed up.

Exam mark 60
Assesment mark 80 [ this gets moderated ]
HSC mark 70

Exam Mark 60
Ass. mark - 90
HSC mark -75

Exam Mark - 80
Ass. mark - 90
HSC- 85

a high average gets pulled down if the bottom half are doing poorly.

I was getting in the 70's and i done well in the external [95] and got E4.

If he does bad in his external, his internals could only do so much to help him.

I'm sorry, i think you are retarded.

If he comes rank #1, and does well in his external. (lets say 90+)

His Exam mark would be 90+
His assessment mark would also be 90+ (as he gains the highest of his cohorts hsc marks)

His Hsc mark would then be E4

edit:

read his post. It says provided he did well in his external.

Please are you guys fuckign blind.

^ Yer, i'm pretty sure i'm fucked up?

lol i realise my mistake. But yer then. 90's for all the good marks. IF his assesments only in the 80's though it won't be E4 will it. I think he has to mkae sure his innitial assesments over 80 so that they moderate it to 90's.

Sorry if i'm coming off a little mean ):

It's just that.

moderation does not take into school internal assessment marks at all.

It's all ranking.

----------------

If your school filled half the test with questions in another language so that the maximum anyone could score would be 50%, it wouldn't matter, because it's all about ranks.

RANKS RANKS RANKS.

---------------

I realise that it is unlikely for someone at a non-selective school to get a E4 after scoring only 60s in their internals, however it is possible to score a E4 provided you do well in the externals and you rank #1.

^ yer. My mistake this yr. I bludged so much, believe it or not, i was ranked bottom half for most of my subjects.

My rank for extension 1 was 10/16
My mark- 95
Assesment [ moderated like hell i think my real was like 80's or 70's ]- 93
HSC mark- 94

My average throughout the year wwas like 70's. I think if he gets ranked top he'll get really good exam wise.

Once again totally apologize. Didn't get what he was saying at first. Was like 60's. Hell no.

If you come 1st in both external and internal and you did well in the external exam, internal mark will go to the rubbish bin...which happened to me... so you just have to keep up and make sure you do well in the external exam

My trial mark=my assesment mark=my exam mark=my HSC mark

best thing is to checkout hsc past papers to compare your standard with the state standard. that way you can ensure that you are consistent internally and externally

i didnt rank first in my class but i got assesment mark of 97 and exam mark of 98. its pretty hard to estimate how scaling works sometimes. just do your best and have fun with it =)
