...is not a very popular topic in this forum it would seem. There are currently no resources on it either. Is anyone else doing it?

There are over 10 resources on the resource page...

Best way to find them is to go to the page and hit Alt+F, which will bring up a find box (works best if you have Firefox).

Then you put in ' Amenhotep ' and hit enter each time.

Edit: It is quite popular -- you just need to ask specific questions. What areas are you finding difficult? And there's that Important: thread at the top of this forum...

No, those are for a different topic altogether, those are FROM the death of Amenhotep III. Ours is UNTIL the death of Amenhotep III. They are different subjects, I even looked at some of the 'from Amenhotep III', which was rather time-wasting.

Ack, sorry. If it's an excuse, I need new glasses! :(

Just to clarify for everyone, yours is Society: Option B: New Kingdom Egypt to the Death of Amenhotep III. I thought you meant Period: Option C: New Kingdom Egypt from Amenhotep III to the Death of Ramses II.

You know it's a new option, right? That's why there aren't many resources. Personally, I don't get why they split the NKE into two societies - Ramesside society is basically normal NK Society plus a few changes (personal piety).

Anyway, I would familiarise myself with the two relevant Periods (Options B and C). For those, we have a lot of resources.

If you look at the 2006 specimen paper, you'll note that the 10-mark question is very period-esque:

(From Board specimen exam (.pdf)):

Question 5 — Option B – Egypt: Society in New Kingdom Egypt to
the death of Amenhotep III
[2] (a) Name TWO of Egypt’s neighbouring peoples.
[2] (b) What was ma’at?
[5] (c) Describe the leisure activities of New Kingdom Egyptians.
[6] (d) Outline the religious role of the pharaoh during this period.
[10](e) With reference to Source 7 and other sources you have studied, explain the
impact of empire on New Kingdom Egyptian society.

Source 7: The Battle of Megiddo (Annals of Thutmose III)
[List of the booty which his majesty’s army brought from the town of]
Megiddo. Living prisoners: 340. Hands: 83. Horses: 2,041. Foals: 191.
Stallions: 6. Colts: —. One chariot of that foe worked in gold, with a
[pole] of gold. One fine chariot of the prince of [Megiddo], worked in
gold. [Chariots of the allied princes: 30]. Chariots of his wretched
army: 892. Total 924.
So looking at the two relevant Periods will help a bit.

Considering there isn't much social history evidence from NKE until the late 19th Dynasty, I suppose you'll be using a lot of tomb evidence, maybe some of the letters, etc, among all the royal and noble stuff. Maybe look at some of the Thutmoside wisdom teachings - for that, Lichtheim would be a good choice.

Sorry to bitch, but Ramesside society seems a much easier option. *shrugs*

Edit: Has everyone attempted that question? Would it help if I thought of answers and posted them up?

I know, it seems like a dud we got stuck with.

Heh, you just have to eat life's lemons.

I'll write the exam tomorrow when I have a spare 15 mins. Wish me luck -- I've never studied this period. :D

I know you're exam's only 4 days away, but hopefully it'll help.

Yeah, I'm doing it too (unfortunately) I'm finding it fairly difficult to study for because I'm just not interested in Egypt...it's so hard to memorise all the various campaigns, stelae and building programs.

Have you actually looked in any books or journals? It's really easy to find stuff about this time - Thutmosides and AIII are hugely popular.
