i got the same assessment task, its "our understanding of celestial objects depends upon observations made from Earth or space near Earth."
in particular, we have to mention galileo's perving on the moon, why some wavebands can be more easily detected from space (?), problems associated with ground-based astronomy in terms of resolution and absorption of radiation and atmospheric distortion, and finally improvements such as adaptive optics, interferometry and active optics.

phew.

ahhh
its one of them research tasks (i dunno if other schools do em; personally i loathe this type of assessment), they tell us a few syllabus dot points to research, then 3 weeks later, we do a test in class

hmmm
this year we got the first 4 DPs of the syllabus of this topic

but im kinda worried about the verbs they use
i.e. consider this dot point

Discuss Galileo's use of the telescope to identify features of the moon

now, if i were to look at the verb def of discuss, i get "identify the issue, provide points for / against"

ok, now i must provide points for or against galileo's looking at the moon? ridiculous! :(

u should come to my school

our physics teacher set this assignment with so much maths it was like..only one dude pulled it out..it took a bit of mathemical thinking as well

it was fun though..even if i only pulled a D

the dp is copy and paste from BOS syllabus so the teachers wud prolly agree with my argument :) but nonetheless its confsuing
i guess what the teachers want me to be able to do is simply recall that galileo used a telescope...

hey... u wudnt know how interferometry works wud ya?
i still dont get it

the overall idea of separating telescopes to get a differing perspective of the image to increase res is understandable but i dunno the mechanics behind it... ill prolly need it too
