Can someone please explain why in the formula F=BIlsinθ, why is sin 90 used instead of sin 30? These questions always tend to trick me, so if anyone can please the fundemental principle behind attempting these questions, I will owe them big time.

Because the angle is between the DIRECTION of the B-field and the conventional current, not some arbitrary line that is drawn on the diagram as the boundary of the region. If the B-field was going to the left/right of the page, then yes sin 30 would be used, but it is not.
