As long as your room has the inbuilt projector with all the cables coming out of the wall usually at the front then your sweet. The video cable goes into your Laptop and alittle fiddling with buttons settings on your laptop and it'll come up.

Try get to class 5-10mins early so you can setup then all you have to do is turn on.

If your class has no inbuilt projector then you gotta borrow one from the hardware nerds on your campus.

Once you hook it up the cable you'll need to change the output on your laptop (otherwise there'll be no picture on the projector).

On my toshiba it's done by pressing the "Function" key (FN - between Ctrl and Alt) and while holding that pressing the F5 key (has a small screen on it in grey).

On mine a menu pops up on the screen with a couple of different display options. What you want is the "LCD/CRT" option - this way you can see whatever image is displayed both on your laptop and the projector.

Try this tonight. If you do it correctly the screen will go black for a second and then come back on (if you have the projector hooked up it will also come up on the projector).

This is the most common problem I've seen with people doing presentations.

Edit: Just realised this post is from yesterday. Oh well; hope it all went well :D

You say this when you had the "quiz" given to you on a silver platter.

let's just hope that
a) michael kennedy or jan karp doesn't patrol these forums, and
b) they can't crack our internet alias'

I'm Art Vandelay, an architect. Or a marine-biologist. Or a latex salesman.

Or Buck Naked, a porn-star.

I hope you watch Seinfeld.

My presentation is tomorrow. Does anyone know if I need to turn my laptop off first before plugging in the projector cable in? Or can I leave the laptop on standby mode or even just running on the Desktop? Because my windows startup time is very slow..

No you don't have to turn it off. You can have it all ready to go on the desktop. You might have to follow the previous steps I outlined in this thread though
