COMP3711, easy
INFS2603, easy but can get frustrating, depends on who teaches it
INFS2607, haven't done it. You have the option of doing COMP3331 instead. I'd suggest take that course.

yeah i just noticed that suddenly we have the choice of doing COMP3331 instead of INFS2607. but since i'm seng/comm and i get a minor in infs, shouldn't i do the INFS subject to satisfy the INFS minor requirements?

yeah you could do that, or just do a different infs course

you'll most likely want to take up networks eventually, most people do

'networks' as in INFS2607 or COMP3331 as a 3rd year elective?

networks as in COMP3331

Cause COMP3331 you actually learn something, and practice learnt skills. In any INFS course, all it is, is theory.

So my last post was basically saying, most people will opt to do COMP3331 eventually. (its a popular course)

So basically, if you do, do COMP3331, you might as well do a different INFS course then INFS2607. As INFS2607 will be a theory based only dumbed down version of the COMP course.

Cheers

btw, randomr, check your pm's

is COMP3711 like all theory or is there actually any practical side involved? and is there a textbook? according to the bookshop website, there is no textlist for this course.

COMP3711 is theory, however probably better than INFS courses i'd have to say.

The textbook is
Kathy Schwalbe, Information Technology Project Management, Fourth Edition, Course Technology, 2006.

(Yes, 2006, what I find strange, is that they can put out a "2006" version in early 2005, eh, beats me, weird publishers)

The reason the bookshop probably doesn't have the textlist is because, this course is new, and will be the second time its running. Bookshop probably haven't received the paperwork yet for the text I figure.

For more information, and feel for the subject, look at its course site
www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~cs3711

About the practical side, it depends on what you yourself classify as practical. You will have to use MS Project. I guess you could call that on some level "practical"

rand0mr, is you got msn/icq, check your pm (private messages), I left my details with you. Add me to your list.

Cheers,
Ace
