are we meant to have read the prescribed texts before our first lecture? the lecture notes for week one are already up on the web

I havent read them yet , but usually the first lecture is all admin stuff , and gives a overview of what topics will be covered...

Yeah, you don't really learn anything in 1st lectures except what texts to get, how to enrol in tutes, what PASS is and what assessments to expect.
