can research be only reading of other texts (eg for inspiration on form, themes etc)? I'm a bit panicked about my viva voce on Monday because obviously they will ask about 'research', and mine basically consists of reading related books/poetry/plays and 'thinking' about them. My story used to have a much more history in it, so I did a lot of research there, and I also had it set in South America, so there was research there, but now both those elements have dropped from my work.

So, in short (!): what do I say about my 'research'?

u also need to study the area and genre so that u can link what u r studying and y etc. good luck with ur viva mate

lol no probs watsoever im actually doing that research now lol its wierd doing mine im researching into the cognitive mapping and mind of the serial rapist, aswell as the different types of rapists. scary studd.
