My school's assessment weightings are:
Proposal - 30%
Viva Voce - 40%
Report - 30%

But the syllabus lists it as:
Proposal - 20%
Viva Voce - 40%
Report - 40%

And says "While the allocations of weightings to the various tasks set for the HSC Course is left to individual schools, the percentages allocated to each syllabus component must be maintained"

So... does that mean my school's wrong or I'm just not reading it right?

yeah ur reading it right, but i dont know much about all that stuff... u should at least ask about it...it doesnt seem right to be allocating 30 percent of ur internal mark for the proposal.

i think it means individual criteria when ur being assessed, and that all is required is that the total of that task adds to the amount BOS has specified.

I think you should speak to your head english teacher. See what he/she says about it. If you still feel strongly about it, and the teacher doesn't do anything about it, then go further to the principal, and even to the board.

i think they can... but for example as long as outcome 1.1 still has 10% and 1.2 still has 40% etc. so one school can have a viva voce worth 5% of 1.1 and 35% of 1.2 whilst another can have 10% of 1.1 and 10% of 1.2, as long as in the end, 10% of all assesment went to 1.1 and 40 went to 1.2. Does that make sense?

the school gets a choice of how much of a certain outcome is in an assesment. BUT they have to test an exact amount of each outcome...

SO they can test some of the outcome in each task and decide how much they will, but in the end, you must have an exact percentage per outcome.. that is the way its all moderated!
