Simply, "Noir" is French for "Black". Noir film is film that is shot in black and white (or very mute tones), where the tones are used to convey thems and ideas. This may be when a film is INTENTIONALLY shot in black and white, or when black and white was the only choice, but it is used skillfully. It is NOT any old balck and white film.

Heaps of people will be using this as a supplemntary text now, i know of like 10+ people doing it. Its going to be over-used but it does fit perfectly in Crime Fiction.

Its shot in black and white cos it reflects the comic itself. In addition, the stories in the comic reflect the ideals and generic conventions of Noir. The protagonist is the male, and blah blah.
