How bad is my idea to wait until o-week to get my student ID?

if its a really bad idea, when shud i get mine then? = =

i heard the line will be longer than the great wall of china FML

P.S. im out of town... shud i get it after the o-week during the weekends

Get it now, I've seen it for myself already, it's pretty darn long lolol. Might as well get your textbooks and get acquainted with your surroundings while you're at it.

And I think the Concession sticker expires at the end of March.

I got my card at the end of january, the line was a 5 minute wait and it was stinking hot
The concession sticker just says 2010, it doesnt have the month it ends.. :s
And the card itself is valid till 2013

You can go during office hours
Hours of operation
8.00am - 4.30pm
Monday to Friday

Found out that after bridging course I have to go back and get another id card, because mine says NAwd... But at least the lines won''t be as long, and I can have a shot at a better looking photo

Lol I don't like mine, but I just can't be bothered to go back to FM Assist to get it again, as it took me ages to find the place, and \I have a funny feeling I'll get lost trying to find it again. I have to get a map ><

Hey I just saw the Sydney uni card and it's so mch better than ours. It's a visa prepaid combined wth it. Why can't unsw match theres?

Yes...because all students should get a visa card combined with their student card...

Better off getting Visa Debit card from your bank.

Agreed. If you lost your student ID at USYD you'd be in quite a pickle.

Got my ID today, took about 15 minutes all up with about 30 people in the que.

Hi Jenecis, long time no speak! Hope your holidays have been fun ^^

Well for all the transfer students who currently have ASB, Eng or etc on their uni ID cards, they'd have to get a replacement card for sure. However for returning students (law, eng, sci etc), FM Assist will only put on a shiny-gold holographic sticker saying "2010" on top of your card after filling in a certain green 'transport form'. That's what happened to me lol. If you look at your Student ID it will say for most people valid till 30/12/2012, and it means just that. All part of the plan to cut costs at UNSW I guess.

Again I stress that you get your ID cards by the end of this week, because by the start of next week, prepare to get your eyes/skin burnt whilst waiting in the blazing sun outside FM Assist.

This has been said before but I'll say it again. You can just get your student card after O-Week. The 2009 travel concession sticker is valid until 31/03/2010. I imagine new students without concession will also be given lenience until this date, should you happen to be inspected.
