Why is the VCE easier than the HSC? I don't know anything about the HSC. I got ranked down big time just for doing my yr12 over a couple of yrs, I don’t like the scaling system!

Sure is cold in Vic - been pouring down with rain the last few days. In Gippsland at least, don't know what it is like in Melbourne, but I expect it is the same. Always cold in Melbourne. :(

VCE is easier because the final exams don't count for as much as in NSW. Also, your maths is a lot easier than NSW maths.

A few stories to "back up" my argument:
1. A friend moved to melbourne from NSW at the end of Year 10. She did a highish level of maths (I can't remember what it called... methods maybe?) and she said that the year 11 course was weasier than NSW year 10.
2. Same friend did no work during VCE (friend is smart by the way).... going on where she came in our school approx in year 10 her UAI should have been low 80's, instead she scored mid 90's.
3. Friend went to university in Victoria to study maths. He had no problem because 1st year maths in victorian unis was basically 4u HSC maths.... he learnt barely anything until 2nd year because NSW maths is a lot harder.
4. In VCE you are allowed to take in cheat sheets right? We can't do that in NSW
5. Victorians get to use graphical calculators, we draw our own graphs
6. VCE english doesn't have levels as hard as ours

Anyway, I'm not saying the VCE is easy by any means, it is just easier. But I think ACT, QLD and TAS systems are even easier than the VCE.

But the VCE does have some cool subjects that I wish we had in NSW.

Yep, I know for math you’re allowed I think 2 sided cheat sheet on A4 paper, or it could be 1 sided. I think student can bring in cheat sheets for chem and physics too - can't be sure b/c I didn't do these subjects.

VCE math, goes from general (yr11), further math, math methods then specialist mathematics.

So are those courses directly related to the HSC

General--->General
Further---->2-Unit
Methods--->3-Unit
Specialist-->4-Unit

...or is it around another way --- why did you have year 11 after General is that a one year course, or do you have to do that course in year 11?

General is done at yr11, and you have to complete general math (unit 1 first semester/ unit 2 second semester) if you want to do further math (unit 3 and 4). Oh yes and there is method (unit 1/2) in yr11 too.

Further math, methods, and specialist are the yr12/VCE math.

See, yr 11 we do (generally) unit 1 and 2 subjects and yr 12 unit 3 and 4 subjects.

In Melbourne Drama and Theatre Studies are two seperate subjects. Here Drama is just theatre studies, which is unfortunate because you dont learn about film acting! They also have psychology if im not mistaking!

As expected.

Totally unrelated, but Zarathustra, are you another one suffering frm the Hedgehog's Dilemma? Or do you just like Shinji (without feeling similarly)?

By the Hedgehog's dilemma you mean the one put forth by Schopenhauer and then by NGE - well I guess I do keep my distance from people - *feels Zarathustra is disclosing too much about himself* "Warmth or lack of puncture wounds...."

The Hedgehog's Dilemma from Arthur Schopenhauer's "Parerga and Paralipomena"

To keep themselves warm, the hedgehogs huddled together causing them to be pricked by each others' spines, thus making them keep a distance from each other. As the night wore on, they huddled and separated until finally they found a common, bearable distance from both their spines and the cold.
This became what is now known as manners.

Another Border Person here. Hello fellow Border people Ash and Xayma. Must say, that I am interested in converting to the Mexican faith sometime soon. Can't stand the thought of going to Sydney...
On the HSC is harder than the VCE is debate. Must say that it is easier than the shit system NSW has right now. My older sis went to a Melbourne School after completing 7-10 in NSW, now she's a smart gal, I wouldn't doubt that, but she scored 'perfect 50s' in English and Literature and ended up with an ENTER of 98.7
If she had stayed in NSW, she would of probably got low 90s honestly. Like, all her marks were over 40 (out of 50) except for one of them...which was 32...
Think about it...her marks ended up being, 100 100 84 82 64.
Hmmm. I might play with Sam with those...lol. I'm such a cruel sister.

imagine this one guys. Melbourne is way better than Sydney..(sorry rivalry has to start somewhere!) the VCE is very similar to the HSC, the only thing different is course names and its the ENTER not UAI.

Their "study scores" (sorry I don't know what you call this in NSW) are completely different (??) not sure. When we get a study scores they are rank 50 - <20. NSW/HSC seems to have scores around, what 80+ ????

ENTER, UAI, TER are all equivalent, except QLD has OP.
