Hi.

I'm helping a friend accept his UNSW course offer while is on holiday in a place without easy access to the net.
What i've done so far is made his Unipass, accepted his offer and paid his enrolment fee through AustPost.
Now when i try to log in with his unipass, it doesn't work.
Is this happening with all you future UNSW students?

Ok. Now that i've accepted his offer, what about the subjects choosing, textbook purchasing, timetables and other thing he has to sign up?
Can he do all this when he gets back or is there a time limit?

Is what i've done so far enough?

Subjects choosing comes in the 2nd part of online enrollment which starts on the 2nd of February. You can try and call up the myUNSW team, I'm sure the number is on the website for help with the Unipass. And there is a time limit to everything of course, it's all gotta be before Semester 1 :p But seriously subject selection is based on a first-come first-served basis so you might want to consult with your friend about that.

Btw I'm not 100% sure on all of this, I'm going through the whole confusion aspect as with most other UNSWers :)

Enrolment is a first come first served basis. If the class is filled before you enrolled - bad luck.

Core subjects have more than enough space, so don't worry about missing out altogether, but if you want good times for your tutes and labs, figure it all out on paper, then just enrol at those times as soon as you get the chance.

Contact Dis-connect about the unipass problem

He can enrol in his subjects up till the 20th of Feb if memory serves me correctly. textbook purchasing occurs after uni has started

Yes its all online. It would help if we knew what degree your friend is doing. You can find it either at the school website or the UNSW handbook.

www.publications.unsw.edu.au.

You enrol at myUNSW from Feb 2nd onwards.

In addition, on the Pre-enrolment page after you login - there is the First Year Planner and COLA which helps you determine which subjects to take

He's doing B Science (Media and Communications).

So whats the deal with these subjects?
Do i actually have to choose them or is there a default set for most courses?
What happens if i don't do anything or don't know what i'm doing?
Can he come back and fix everything?

Please at least try to look before you ask.

From www.publications.unsw.edu.au posted before, in the science handbook at:
http://www.publications.unsw.edu.au/Handbooks 2004/Science - UG Handbook 2004.pdf

Then on page 23, half way down, right hand column - 3994 Bachelor of Science (Media and Communications).

Its all listed there.
