Wow, i thought there'd be a thread on this already. But the search function suggests there isnt.


Anyway? What did you think of this film?

Even tho it probably wasnt made for people our age, i personally thought it was great. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese witherspoon did a great job of singing the songs (probably with some editing, but nevertheless, a great job) And the story was great too.

i loved the songs and i loved reese's portrayal of june carter.
i thought it was a fantastic story with a great pace and message.

i thought joaquin phoenix was simply stewing in his own melodrama.
and he couldnt look less like johnny cash.

they both have great voices though, and although i had heard their songs before, i never really knew their story, so it was highly enjoyable.

Apparantly Cash and Carter chose Phoenix and Witherspoon to be a part of the movie before they died in 2003 (?)

Well the script was sent to Phoenix years ago. I'm not sure if Cash 'picked' him, but I know that he supported, and really encouraged the film makers to go for him. After he got the script, Phoenix had to go off and learn to sing and play the guitar before the film could be made. He also apparently spent plenty of time with Cash before he died, so I'm assuming Johnny was pretty pleased with the guy chosen to portray him.

I'm yet to see the film, so I don't whether I'll agree with him or not.

this movie was top notch, absolutely loved the characters, especially Joaquin Phoenix, he was great in it. and very sexable too.

John Laws interviewed John Carter-Cash (their son) a couple of weeks ago and thats what was said.

i just watched this movie

was pretty good!

kinda like 'ray' - tributes to entertainment people.

same kinda storyline too
music, drugs, woman (other than wife)

i thought it was really good, i was afraid the songs would suck and it would wreck the movie but they were good. btw, i swear i was the youngest person in that entire movie theatre.
