In the Human Rights syllabus, it states:

* How effective are non-legal measures?

Anyone know what this means?

Thanks :)

u evaluate the EFFECTIVENESS (please tell me you know what this means by now) of the legal measures ie. ICCPR, ICESCR, EEO, CROC etc and non legal measures ie. amnesty international, red cross etc
How effective are those in addressing Human rights

When it said non-legal, I was not sure if it mean NGOs or not :S but I understand now. I actually have one more question for some ideas:

'Criminal penalties always reflect community standards and expectations'

What sort of cases could I use? I have some but they more involve the operation of the legal system.

how the penalties reflect what society wants and expects-their standards.
Skaf case is the best-taht 55 years-reflected community standards and expectations
reduction of punishment-reform
appeals
stuff like that

mention purposes of punishment etc
good luck ;)

Thankyou so much, I just found an article on it. So basically, did a gang rape occur, the offenders were prosecuted, but the verdict dismissed because of jury interference, and then another trial would not occur because the victim could not go through it again?

Apparently the sentence was slashed because the offence was not in the worst category?

How many cases do you have for various points of the law? I have a few examples of reform, Gonzales case now the Skaf case. How many should we have or how many is ideal?

You shouldn't think of how much, its what is relevant to the question
