What raw mark do you think you attained for HSC Advanced, given you 'screwed up paper 1'?
honestly. 40/45 for paper 1. possibly even 39.
paper 2. 58-60/60
worst case scenario looks like maybe a 97/105 which is about a 93 raw.
unless. like ive heard, its 40% paper 1. 60% paper 2.

which would be more like 35.55 + 58 = 94 raw.

these worst case scenarios are still fairly hopeful.

I'm moving near the university I want to go to, so it'd suck if I don't get there. If I don't get the UAI I'll probably go to the other one and then transfer. Or do engineering or something although the hours are hectic.

Lets just hope for the best shall we? ... ...

93 raw = 97 aligned?! Sweet.

Your worst case scenarios are pretty good, haha. But I know it sucks if you've been aiming for a state ranking all year and you screw one thing up unexpectedly. Happened to me in one of my exams I think, but I could be wrong. We never know really until Wednesday.

By the way, another BOS member in the Advanced forum said that 82/105 in last year's English paper was aligned to 90? What do you think it'll be this year? I personally believe 83/84 or maybe even 85.

nonoo! i meant 97/105 would be 93% and id have no idea how well that scales. id think around a 95%? not sure though. not that any of us can be.

and; i think 84-85/105 would be a good mark for an aligned 90.

Hahaha yeah I was certain 93 raw wouldn't be aligned to 97! That's a huge leap!
What's the raw mark distribution like for Advanced English if, say, 85 becomes 90, but there's still 20 marks to distribute in a 10-mark gap? (assuming that 85/105 = 90/100)

Can't WAIT until I don't have to think about this anymore :p

Lol, and you guys are stressing about your HSC. Once you get into uni, that number wont matter and you'll all have moved onto worrying about semester results :p.

Good luck, but remember there are many ways of getting into the course you want (doing another course and transferring, tertiary bridging courses at TAFE or uni, or diploma at TAFE then transferring). You'll all be fine!

Yeah, I agree. As they say, "Don't let the mere number define you!!!"

I think he means raw. It is 92.3%

Still not quite correct, don't they make AOS out of 40 and modules out of 60? Then get RAW mark, then align that.

I always thought

104+ raw = 100
102 - 103 = 99
100 - 101 = 98
99 - 100 = 97
97 - 98 = 96
94 - 97 = 95
ETC

You're losing your touch there, mate. =P

yeah, but aligned is usually higher

if you get 103/120 in 2 unit maths = 93 aligned

Ok this is how my school aligned our trial marks:
105/104 - 98
103/102 - 97
101 - 96
100/99/97 - 95
so yea, i dno

this years test wasnt so hard so aligning would be kinda stuffed

Lol, very pessimistic of your school to think that 105/105 = 98.
