hello people

i was wondering which module this year wont be an essay
(BNW / BR has been an essay for the past 4 years?)

PS- Is it true that they can only ask for 1 module to be
changed to a feature article, speech...etc ?

I've got all the past quesitons here, but I don't have them labelled by year so I honestly don't know. I'd say so, because Module C has only been an essay once, while Module B has only NOT been an essay once, and Module A has been an essay every year.

...

So if we assume this theory to be true, and also assume that the questions in previous years somehow affect the probability of what the questions will be this year (which is illogical, but then again so's english in general),

We are left with the following as the most likely scenarios:

(1) Module A (speech/interview/feature article), Module B Essay, Module C Essay,

or, the 2nd most likely,

(2) Module A Essay, Module B (speech/interview/feature article), Module C Essay.

I like scenario no 1
king lear is tricky enough without changing the textype

i disagree. our trial exam asked for a speech on lear, and previously a discussion style question was the go. because imagine having to discuss opposing ideas in transformations, or telling the truth. in lear, its easy to contrast and compare various productions, readings, and imply your own.

if lear is a discussion i'll be a happy camper.

BNW/BR won't be an essay
one has only been changed to a different textype each year
see 2004-2001
so yeah my bets r on BNW/BR
Frontline has always been speech/article, 1 essay I think
so mod c is gonna be ab essay
module b is always something random but, mostly a diff texttype however, essay is also possible

The only think I hope for desperately is that a Discussion/Interview wont make an appearance.

If you think about it, the only thing that will generally need tweaking in a Speech/Feature Article will be the the introduction and conclusion. If you have a generic essay memorised, it's considerably easier to adapt to those text types than it is with a discussion.

But, knowing my luck, a Discussion/Interview will pop up somewhere. I apologise in advance :p.

ok heres the history:
MODULE A:
2004 HSC: ESSAY
2003 HSC: ESSAY
2002 HSC: ESSAY
2001 HSC: ESSAY
2001 SPECIMAN HSC: PERSONAL REFLECTION -this changes the pattern

2005 will not be an essay IMO...

MODULE B:
2004 HSC: ESSAY
2003 HSC: ESSAY/ARGUMENT
2002 HSC: CONVERSATION
2001 HSC: ESSAY
2001 SPECIMAN HSC: ESSAY

2005 looks like Module B has the possiblity of being something else...who knows

MODULE C
2004 HSC: SPEECH
2003 HSC: ARTICLE
2002 HSC: ESSAY
2001 HSC: SPEECH
2001 SPECIMAN HSC: ARTICLE

my bets that module C is gonna be an essay this year :) hopefully

This is not true. I'm looking at the 2001 paper as we speak. Section II is a conversation:

"Two readers are arguing about the ending of the prescribed text you have studied.

Compose their discussion. The discussion should demonstrate your critical understanding of the prescribed text."

Section III is a speech:

"You have created an exhibition of texts entitled: ‘One person’s truth is . . . ’

The exhibition includes your prescribed text and other related texts of your own choosing.

Write your speech for the opening night of the exhibition. In your speech, explain how the exhibition reflects your vision of the representations of truth."

I doubt they would ever set section I as anything but an essay. Module A is considered the hardest module (at least for transformations), so I can't see them making it harder.

My money's on a speech/feature article for module B. The other two will be essays.

In the 2001 HSC, the conversation in section II only applied to question 3. Everything else was an essay. Sucks to have question 3...

Does anyone think BOS will pull something insane and ask for us to compose a dance choreography illuminating the process of transformations, or similar?

I just have a funny feeling something's going to be very different.

yes they are going to ask us to write a haiku as captain gh3y said ;)
A ryhming essay would be brilliant. Perhaps a little difficult in 40 minutes. But still, that'd be awesome.

I'm thinking

Module A: Speech
Module B: Essay
Module C: Feature article/discussion

but i'm always wrong, so just expect the opposite

for the Catholic trials i predicted:
Module A: Transcript
Module B: Essay
Module C: Speech

and as everyone knows it was basicallly the opposite- Essay/Letter (we got a artilce though)/Essay
