Hey guys, does anyone know much about the women of the late Roman Republic?

Octavia = very important - Second Triumvirate stuff, she was the "reason" for Octavian going to war against Antony - or one of them anywayz - if u need more, pm me!

What about Servilia? Fulvia? Cleopatra VII?

It just seems that women were only used as political porns by their families, Julia was married off to Pompey, who in his life had someting like six wives, most to improve his political position/ connections. Cleopatra VII seems the only one that had real power but she only ever ruled on behalf of men. So did women pull the strings or were they just powerless?
Does anyone know much about Servilia and her family connections/ influence?

I dont know about Servilia, but Octavia (cleopatra isnt roman, so you cant include to much of her in your essays, shes only a small part of the period) had real power as well

thanks yeah i guess i'll just have to do a bit more research and focus mainly on Octavia and Livia Drusa/ Julia Augusta

Wasn't Servilia Caesar's mistress? Didn't he bring her the pearl back from England? Didn't she help with political posturings behind the scenes?

She was also Brutus' mum. She was also Cato's half sister.

Yeah, weird that Brutus could have been Caesars son hey... haven't heard much about Caesars mum thou!
