Depends on the uni. some still consider your GPA /WAM even after you've done 2-3 years of uni but there's just not as much emphasis put on it.

Don't be put off if you don't get in straight after year 12. Keep in mind that the majority of vet students are either international or mature age applicants who did animal science degrees / worked as vet nurses beforehand, so there are always alternative pathways to vet, and if you're fresh out...

I know of three friends who managed to transfer into vet from bioscience. They just scraped Distinction averages for the two years they did bioscience and both worked on a casual basis at vet clinics. Yes, you still need to do the STAT and commitment statement to get in :)
