What happens if you dont attend workshop.

Chances are, your mentor won't get you into trouble. But you miss out on awesome mentor time! That's punishment enough. It take's a bit of getting used to, but EDUF1018 is about getting you used to the culture of the Faculty and the culture of teaching. It's quite different to what most people...

Re: Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Humanities and Social Sciences)/Bachelor of Art On this point, see this group on Facebook - Don't Close Fisher Curriculum: It has been confirmed by senior sources that plans are afoot to effectively close the Curriculum Resources collection at the...

I'm currently doing a B Arts but am interested in Education...

If you want to do MTeach/BTeach later, you should make sure that the subjects you choose will make you eligible to teach something, i.e. they should reflect one of the curriculum areas. Have a chat to the Education Faculty Office about transferring over next year. There may be some pros or cons...

Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Humanities and Social Sciences)/Bachelor of Arts

Re: Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Humanities and Social Sciences)/Bachelor of Art Don't stress! You don't really have to do anything yet unless you're enrolling in different subjects. Minors and majors can be worked out later - it's all about how many credit points of particular subject...

Brief question about my future career

MEd is only available to graduates already with teaching qualifications (BEd, or another degree + DipEd or MTeach/BTeach) and isn't a teaching qualification in itself. Surely a good teacher is someone with a broad knowledge of education with all its facets and the people they work with rather...

Taking EDUF3028 - Mentoring in Educational Contexts?

I'm doing Mentoring this sem. Some of my friends did it when we were in third year, and they had a blast. I'm going to the Thu 12 Feb workshop. I was talking to Lesley the other day, and I don't think she's got room numbers yet.

Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Humanities and Social Sciences)/Bachelor of Arts

Re: Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Humanities and Social Sciences)/Bachelor of Art Not all will accept. And of those who do accept, about one-third will go the full 5 years and end up with both a BEd and BA.

Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Humanities and Social Sciences)/Bachelor of Arts

Re: Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Humanities and Social Sciences)/Bachelor of Art As far as I know, you can't. Music isn't offered as a curriculum area in the Faculty of Education and Social Work. Within the University, there's the Bachelor of Music Education at the Conservatorium, but...

    Dip.Ed?

I'm inclined to agree. Teaching isn't something you go into half-heartedly. And even then, new teacher standards, and accreditation and selection procedures will sort you out even before you make it into a classroom. The barest minimum to teach is a one-year DipEd, but even these are on the way...

Offers are out, so who is doing B Sci/B Edu (Math)

UNSW tries to squish too much into four years. Most end up staying a fifth year to finish majors anyway. I think USyd does a more thorough job personally. Being a five-year trained teacher also means you start one pay scale higher than a four-year trained teacher on your first year out.

how many subjects (credit points) do we need each sem.

Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Humanities and Social Sciences)/Bachelor of Arts

Re: Bachelor of Education (Secondary: Humanities and Social Sciences)/Bachelor of Art Not really, it could mean either the demand for the course has fallen, there are more places than before, or both. Also, the cut-off for the BEd/BA is tied to the cut-off for the BA on its own.

difference between M teaching and B education

An MTeach is a two-year programme whereas a BEd on its own takes three or four years. Both will give you a firm grounding in everything you need in a classroom such as ed psych, curriculum studies, special education and so on. But a BEd, depending on the electives taken, can offer greater depth...

difference between M teaching and B education

A Masters of Teaching is a postgrad degree that you do after an undergraduate Bachelors degree. It lets you teach, but that's about it. A Bachelor of Education is an undergrad degree, but it's scope is much more thorough than a B Teach or an M Teach. What's in a name, I guess. A teaching...

Which is better for B. Education: UNSW or USYD?

The University of Sydney is, of course! Education has been associated with Sydney Uni for over 100 years. Indeed the education of student teachers in New South Wales began at USyd and its associated institutions. There's a variety of programmes and our faculty is at the forefront of innovative...
