    Coop Scholarship

Relative to Finance, I would say so. However, given the quality of the actuarial coop scholars (the ones that I know) they're usually at least a D average anyway, so yeah. But don't let that intimidate you.

    Computing courses for Actuarial

I agree with shinn - I did COMP1911 and I found it sufficiently challenging already - with the assignments I mean. The final exam wasn't so bad - but the assignments, I wouldn't've done it without a friend to do it together with (not plagiarising, just working together).

    Coop Scholarship

You may be right, distinction minimum would be for Finance co-op. In any case, ValentinesM, being a coop, a distinction in actuarial studies would be expected of you - it's not that difficult if you're a little bit smart and if you put in the effort.

    Coop Scholarship

The army gap year is a great program that broadens your experience and it's definitely something that will be looked highly upon. ValentinesM: Yes, you need to maintain a certain grade, I can't recall what that is, but I'd be guessing a Distinction.

    Coop Scholarship

Hi, Congrats on getting an interview. The most likely questions you will be asked include Tell me about yourself? How do you go about managing your time when you have a lot to do? (or how do you prioritise, etc) - Im not a huge fan of this question but it will most likely be asked Why...

I'm not too sure how that converts to singaporean grades...but HD - High Distinction (85) is highest...followed by D - Distinction (75) then C - Credit (65) and then P - Pass (50). Not too sure what average mark is. =)

That's good then. Basically if you want a decent progression in your career during university...then you should aim for D+ (75+) average if you're doing double degree comm/science @ unsw. The minimum required marks is C+ (65+) I believe....@ UNSW that is.

    programming in actuarial studies

Actuarial and finance is a better combo. Why is accounting/actuarial not a useful combo? Well...you either want to be an accountant, or be an actuary...you "can't" be both. In terms of the professions, actuaries tend to hold animosity towards accountants, because some of them always end up...

chance of getting a actuarial job after graduation

A qualified actuary shouldn't have any problem getting a job. However the chance of a new graduate getting a position would be dependent on their - academic performance - co-curricular activities - technical skills - ability of ass kissing ...to mention a few factors. For those who can't get a...

BTW, as a suggestion, don't do double major in actuarial studies/accounting, unless you intend to drop actuarial studies after first year. It's not a useful/happy combo.

    actuarial exemptions

The good news is that in a few years time, associates will also be allowed to use the title 'Actuary'. That's very good news. And no, you dont have to repeat ECON1201....I am fairly certain. Don't quote me on it though 'cause im not 100% sure...just 99.95% sure.

    programming in actuarial studies

There are very little programming in the actl courses. You cover VBA in ACTL1001, the introductory course. Otherwise, you may use R or SAS in future actl courses...not to any specific depth...you just brush on it really. Usually, you always deal with Excel. Excel is a useful program. And to...
