but is it true that you usually go after a guy who reminds you of your father? Because, honestly, i think i may be the contradiction to this. LoL

ahh, but if yes, anyone know WHY?

I think it makes perfect sense if you think about it..
If it wasn't for you parents, you wouldn't be here or not even survived.. so in turn looking for the opposite sex which has similar quality as your parent will help you passing on your genes..

Is it the comfort factor and stuff or something? Is that what you mean? Ohh, also, like what about people who were hurt by their parents/parent figures when they were younger - im just really curious and if i offend anyone.. sorrri! :(

dad

-homophobic
-doesn't like aussie people in general
-anti-social
-thinks there is only one way to get into uni
-thinks women should only leave home when they get married. but prefers that my future husband move in. I THINK NOT
-Christian and hates everything that's not Christian

my boyfriend

-isn't homophobic
-Is Australian (well, he was born in PNG) and embraces multiculturalism otherwise he wouldn't be with me
-not as outgoing as he CAN be, but a hell of a lot more than dad
-doing part-time uni at the Maritime College by correspondence while working full time as a import documentation officer
-Has offered me a place to stay if shit hits the roof
-Atheist

If you bothered to read my snippet of life, you can tell that they don't even get along...

I think that if u have a good relationship with your dad then u will chose guys that reflect certain positive attributes your dad has - he is your first male rolemodel after all.

My ex was alot like my dad (personality wise) - he was caring and over protective and believed that I could do what ever I wanted as long as i put my head too it ( sometimes thought i could do TOO much however)

I think the boys I like are a lot like my dad.

They are 'guys guys' (like football & beer) as in not metros, generous and caring, easy-going, generally well-liked and known as a 'nice guy' and on the bad side they usually have bad tempers and often hit the roof over nothing.

I actually go after guys who (physically and personality wise) remind me of my brother. My brother is funny, smart, against drugs, (drinks to excess sometimes!), APPARENTLY good looking, stuff like that. All my boyfriends have fallen into these categories... Kinda strange
