Just out of curiosity, how many people here did Kumon in their younger to highschool years?

Was Kumon helpful?

i did it for maths in primary school. it was alright cos it showed that i couldnt even do subtraction properly although my mum had to explain how to do it because they dont really teach you- they just give you sheets of work to do. i guess it was good because maths is all about practice and i could do with it now. i stopped because i just wasnt motivated enough and i couldnt see the point.

all they do is pretty much throw u questions from some textbook
and ur sitting there in a crowded room full of fuckheads

why not invest in that textbook and do it @ home?

yep, thats what i meant, kumon don't teach u much- they just try to make u work!! its prolly good for ppl. who got a lotta dough, and can't discipline themselves properly.

Hey Isaac, I know like three people who tutor (or mark) at Kumon... they say it doesn't help the kids much because its just repetition.

I did kumon from when i was 3 yrs old to like 11 and i found it really good in basic skills...like algebra and stuff. and it really helped me get into the routine of doing hw and stuff...but if ur in high school i would reckon tutoring with the actual material ur doing is best..and i dont really do much tutoring for maths now but im doing pretty well in 3 u...so in my opinion, it works!

Actually, at uni - it's doing work by ourselves which will get them (people who rely on tutoring) :p
