Congratulations to brogan77 who was the first to solve the mystery behind it. . These services will be introduced as soon as 03/04/06 (which you'll know if you have been following the game).

Everyone knew after some time that some kind of a premium membership will be introduced. People at first thought it would be forum-specific, then, they thought it would be site-specific. No one knew the exact details of it all - what is included, cost, etc.

so how do we pay for it?
Details for payment will be revealed at launch. At the moment paypal will be utilised for premium memberships.

i'm curious wat "additional private forums" are
This is only an idea we're throwing around atm. If premium members want a private forum for discussion of premium related queries, etc, then this could potentially be provided.

Well premium memberships have been added to heaps of forums before... and while the whole 'wahhhh but i pay' thing appears all the time, they generally deal with it by simply saying 'no, you broke forum rules', I'm pretty sure they'll just be subject to the same rulings (that of the moderators) as we are.

That seems fair. :)

If a Premium Member gets banned for say an offence which is at the mods discretion (ie. not posting porn which is expressly forbidden), won't the shit hit the fan? After all, you've payed for these services, unless the moderator can expressly prove that the Terms and Conditons were breached, won't it open up a whole can of worms?
Reading and posting on the forums is not part of the premium membership scheme - as any registered user can (and will still be able to) do this - so it can't be said that they've paid to use the forums.

Such an issue might however arise if a premium member is banned from a premium forum. We'll only allow such bans to be performed by an administrator. I suspect that premium members will not be too quick to wreak havoc.

Do mean principle as in moral integrity?
Principle as in a rule or law etc?
Principal as in an intial sum of money?
or principal as in the head of school?

If its the first, which I think it is, then hey, everyone has the right to make a profit, its not inherently evil.

ok look im all for the owners of this site and some of the mods even seeing profit. lord knows they work hard enough... but not like this
i think its a bit of a sucker grab at people who are stupid enough to pay money for something they dont need. preety bigger avatars and stylish names? please...

ok fair enough if you are a hsc student and you are paying for the notes but doesnt that go against why this thing was set up for originally? its like a private school system. those who have the money have all the advantages...

I'm not sure what Stas had in mind... we'll have to have a little chat.

I'd like to ask a question - I'm planning on doing alot of work on the biki when this semester finishes and I have more concentrated blocks of free time and I was planning to rely partially on notes in the resource section. Since(if I'm reading this right) all the better notes will be made exclusive does this mean I'd have to pay to view them even though I am not in any way going to be using them for my studies?

But, it's a part of life, you've got "haves" and "have-nots" in all things. And everything becomes commercialised in the end, it can't be benevolent in perpetuity.

Fair enough, if you think they shouldn't make money in this way, but in what way should they? If its optional, i think its harmless enough. And also, if enough people think the same way you do, then it will be a spectacular failure and will indicate to the owners of this site what people are and are not willing to pay for. If it succeeds, there is a demand for it and this demand should be satisfied...and if they make money out of doing it, good luck to them.
fair enough... maybe im just afraid of change haha not to matter
