Where do you work and what are the best and worst things about it? For me (working on a chicken farm, collecting eggs):

Best:
- there's no serving customers so I don't have to put up with their shit
- the pay is decent
- it's very low stress and easy, and it's fun chasing the chickens around!

Worst
- can be VERY tiring depending on how many eggs I pick up
- gets boring working by myself so no one to talk to (besides at breaks)
- bit of a distance to travel from home
- smelly

Best

- Getting banking experience young
- Lots of oppurtunites for training
- Great Pay Rate
- Staff Perks
- Good organisation to work with
- Generally peers are pretty good
- Lots of marketing involved
- Excellent Rewards for good work
- Staff Shop
- Cause we sponsered the Commonwealth Games, we all got given a pair of Adidas Runners with Red National Bank Stars on them. Theyre pretty cool.
- Priority and cheap tickets to sport events etc

Bad

- When your cash doesnt balance, and you have to try and find or lose money
- When you have to live up to the stereotype of a money grabbing bank
- When interest rates go up everyone cracks the sads
- Long winded procedures that frusturate customers
- Customers who think they know everything about how the bank works
- Customers who think you havent given them enough money

Good:
I don't really have to think.
I can screw around on the internet for most of the day.

Bad:
Office environment totally suffocates creativity.
They pay monthly.
Everyone is hella old.
Everyone is hella conservative.
It's quite boring.
Hours suck balls.
People are too pedantic.

Man I need to get a new job...

Pros

- Good Pay
- No customers

Cons

- straight Filing up to 8 hrs out of the 10 hr day
- In an immensley large Filing system people putting files in the wrong places... and as they are chronollogically filed its almost impossible to find one that someone has put in wrong place ever again... ( as all of the states new apprentaships are in my file centre)
- Dealing with stupid phone calls from the board of studies NSW and VCE
- The stupid Department of Education Website for workers
- The computers - damn slow they are.
- Working through Spreadsheets of thousands of New Apprentaship trainees a day!

but meh... working for the department of education and trainning.. you expect busy loads! ^_^

At Coles (Checkout chick)
Pros
-Easy job
-Get to chat to some interesting customers
-No BS, you just clock on and start work
-Lots of staff, other staff are pretty friendly
-Time flies because you are very very rarely standing around with nothing to do

Cons
-Starting at 6am tomorrow ick
-Bad/rude customers
-There are probably more that I haven't discovered, I have only worked there for a few weeks.

Hospitality Agency Casual

Pros
-Working at different venues all the time, so it is always different
-No real accountability... you just do your assigned job for that shift, and then get out of there.
-If you hate working at a venue, chances are you might not have to work there again anyway.
-Varied jobs... from barista (my fav), catering assistant, bar work to waiting (my least fav)
-If they ring up and offer you a shift, you can turn it down if you are busy
-Sometimes the venue supply you with your uniform for the shift so you don't have to worry about washing or ironing!
-Some of the venues are pretty cool, like the convention centre, superdome, opera house etc.

Cons
-Because you are at different venues all the time it can be confusing, especially when no one really knows what is happening
-Some venues are not up to the level of cleanliness I think is necessary
-Sometimes you get treated crappily by the venue staff because you are from an agency
-Sometimes I have to do waitressing, which I really dislike strongly compared to doing barista/bar etc.
-Sometimes the venue gives you really unflattering uniforms to wear which are very hot, especially when you are in the kitchen.\
-Some of the venues are crappy like university colleges.
-Breakfast shifts! I hate the early early mornings we get occasionally!
-Sometimes you come expecting to work like a 6 hour shift, but if they only need you for 3.5 you get sent home early (hence less pay)

Working at my parents pizza place when I am at home

Pros
-Boss's daughter... can do what I want basically lol
-Motivation to work really hard because profits= wealth for family
-See a lot of people I went to school with/locals etc and if we aren't busy I can sit down and chat to them
-Usually there is stuff to do, so I'm not usually standing around being bored.
-Most of the staff that work there are pretty cool, we can have fairly interesting conversations.

Cons
-staffing problems, people calling in sick mean I have to go to work at short notice sometimes.
-Night shift all the time (as in 10pm-7am)
-Dealing with drunks
-Looooong shifts (like 14 hour shifts without a real break when we are really busy)
-Seeing all my friends from school going out while I am stuck at work... it takes away my social life when I am at home in Albury lol.

pretty much .. although free soft drink is a thumbs up. and having to wear lame size adult-xxl shirts to advertise movies when i'm like 5'2" tall is a major thumbs down. i'm contemplating not wearing pants to work & just wearing the shirt like a dress to see if anyone notices.

I did work placement at the place at Bankstown. omg it the most boring place ever. And the filing? my entire hand was covered with paper cuts after that week. It has turned me off office jobs for good.
