well like most selective schools, they set high standards for their students to stay in the school (or even make it)

further strategies is they only offer courses that have good scaling (ie. no general maths or standard english), and another strategy is they accelerate agriculture HSC ( i think), but alot of students there also accelerate other courses in year 10/11 so when it comes to HSC while you and me have 5-6 exams, they have 3-4 hence more time to spend on that 3-4 which leads to higher results

(which of course the higher results is also contributed to the insane amounts of study they do)

Beacuse they teach their students to become farmers. Obviously Agriculture is a very nerdy subject, and as such that flows onto the other subjects. Remember it does take a 99.95 UAI to milk a cow.

oh and of course they attract the smartest people in the state. Hardly any dummys there.

no, it actually attracts more ppl
afterall, picking up cow shit off the ground is essential for latter parts of ext. 2 maths
lol

well what i think is that...since james ruse is the selective school which picks the students in NSW who achieve the highest marks in the selective schools exam, the standard there would obviously be high and also consistent. in the rare case, there would be the odd student who would let the grade down.

but dont you guys just want to burn down their farm ^^ save the animals first of course

Not only is it a selective school, it's the best selective school. By best, I mean the school which has extremely high-achievers.

Apparently the level of pressure, competition and homework are much higher than that of other selective schools, not to mention public schools. Only year 6 students with the best results in the selective school exam are accepted - and don't forget that the top students of other selective schools often leave at year 10 to transfer to James Ruse. In this light, not only do they have the brightest kids fresh from primary school, they also have many of the top students that previously attended other schools until the end of year 10. :)

Exactly, they are going to beat all the other schools bcoz they only accept the best kiddies in year 6 and some from other selectives in year 10...we had a few girls go there after SC.

Also as said before they don't offer "low scallers" (general maths etc) and often make their kids do things such as latin etc...

abit on the animals subject..

other schools which offer this course are prolly underfunded rural schools..

now, given that kinda competition.. ruse guys will get amazingly better marks compared to them. thus, the scaling effect they receive is just dazzeling.

But the school makes up for that by having everyone else get above 99.

haha yeah

but one would imagine, for those that got UAI below 80; without the lack of uber scaling due to the overall standard of the grade, what would their UAI be in an average state school

Yes but every school has people that don't achieve top marks...besides compared to other schools that may be average for some schools but horrible for ruse?

I could do with their scalling...my skools pitiful 68th to their 1st

um, my school wasn't even on the list, but there was a handful that made it to uni
although i can't say my UAI was too flashy, i know that if i worked through the whole year instead of the 2weeks before the trials, i know i would've gotten a heaps better UAI

you shouldn't let school ranking worry you too much
