omg what a day

the new law building is like a freaking complex on the below ground levels. it's massive! very modern and the rooms are nice, but too big for an english tutorial

i had spent 2.5 hours setting up some god forsake complex distillation with shit i've never used before (claisen adaptor wtf?), and then forgot to unplug the vacuum before turning off the tap, and bang there goes my hard work in a flurry of water and smelly chemicals :(

as i was walking to the co-op some shy, asian, first year dude walks up to me and is like "are you first year too?" and engaged me in conversation.

co-op lines were nice and short.

The footpath rocks are horrible. Whoever came up with the idea is an idiot!
Question, are you allowed to have one subject or more, count towards 2 majors?

Oh right I see what you mean.

Units can only be counted one time for majors :(

I was in a law lecture today... how boring. =/
The lecturer was nice but the people are so studious, all you hear are people typing furiously.

My dad thinks I should transfer into law. Ewww.

depends on faculty usually. For science, generally you can't have any overlap. I'm sure there are some exceptions though, like if a major includes a few second year subjects, and some double majors are 'technically' impossible due to lack of subject choices and/or overlapping subjects from each major...

So yeah, just ask the faculties, but generally for science it's 24 discrete credit points.

edit: these are senior subjects i'm talking about. If the 2 majors have an intermediate or junior subject pre-req, that's ok. That tends to offer some flexibility if your majors are pretty similar.

okay so. was there an actual fire today or not

im very confused

the fire alarm went off and they evacuated us all out of the chem building and a fire truck arrived but nothing seemed to be happening

then after about 20 mins they let us back in

wtf was the fire truck for  and why did nothing burn down
i imagine that if a fire alarm goes off in the chemistry building (which happens fairly often), then it's protocol to call over a fire truck or two.

But no, Chris McErlean told us later in the day that there was no fire.

oh man, have uni students never seen a fire alarm before?

there were hundreds of people around the area and i thought, "zomg maybe some guy died or something similarly shocking"...
then i got through the crowd
and some guy told me it was a fire alarm

what a fucking let down
