I was using thrust (ie force)= v*dm/dt and using M=M_o e^-kt

Okay, I'm not aware of this formula.

Also, why do you assume the motion undergoes exponential growth?
Just the thought I had at the time when I was writing it, was trying to link M with a function of time, that seemed the best fit at the time lol.

Haha yeh I don't really think you can chuck in exponential growth and hope for it to be right lol, you're trying to apply too many formulae to the problem abstractly I think it's more of a logical problem.

I do think the level of water will decrease exponentially though, but yeah, that wasn't going to work. I did to somehow factor L into all of this, and I think I'm looking at it the wrong way, I just don't know what the right way is...

You're probably over thinking the problem. To be able to take into account the variation of flow out of the tank (which will decrease over time) you would have to know the relationship between the water level in the tank (height inside) and the rate of flow. Given that image it is not possible to even estimate what that could be.

Yep, new idea, because finding out how long it takes for the water to run out is impossible, we could use L. L is the distance of the centre of mass of the tank and water to the vertical pipe bit. So if water is running out won't the centre of mas move to the right and L then technically shorten, shortening of L could be used as the "time limit" portion of the answers needed. Meh more thinking required and I cant be fucked atm its friday
