International students are a bit overrated. The reason for success is because of their mindset in my opinion. They were brought up in an environment where education means everything to them and they have the mentality of taking advantage of every opportunity. (Asians is particular)

Yeah unfortunately. But ultimately there's nothing you can do about that. So yeah with equal effort talent wins out so just put more effort

If a person has talent and does not utilising it. What good is it?

Considering an even amount of effort for both sides, obviously:

Person with talent but not utilising > Person without talent and 0 effort
Person with talent and utilising > Person without talent and works hard

With equal amount of effort, talent will most likely, if not always, win.

No- his point is its not a proper simultaneous equation. x=1 and then y can be whatever the hell it wants instead of having a unique value.

and that's what I do.

Deswa, I don't think I can get a speech day award for any of my subjects (It was one of my goals upon entering the school)

Adv Eng - Lost my position. Recovering will be very unlikely considering the competition and like 10~ people got 15/15 for the Critical while I only got 14.
Business - I'm in top 5 or so but some guy keeps beating me everytime, dang it.

Looks like I'll have to wait until year 12.
